  DR Congo has a great potential to become a leading Electric car producer. It has very rich mineral deposits. Some of the most exported minerals include copper, diamonds, lithium, tin, tantalum, goals, etc. Minerals contribute around 95% of the total Congo exports. Congo is the leading exporter of cobalt globally.  Congo has rice cobalt reserves. It covers over 70% of the world’s total cobalt reserves. As per the Congo import export data , it exported around $96 million worth of cobalt during the fiscal year 2022. There was a significant increase in the exports of cobalt as compared to the previous year.   DR Congo is the world's leading cobalt producer & exporter along with Russia, Australia, Philippines, Canada, Cuba, Papua New Guinea and Madagascar. DR Congo has rich cobalt deposits which is an essential component of lithium-ion batteries. It contains over 40% of the world’s total cobalt deposits. Similarly, Russia (7,600), Australia (5,600), Philippines (4,500), Canada (4,300), Cuba (3,900), Papua New Guinea (3,000) and Madagascar (2,500) were the top countries in terms of Cobalt production. As per the DR Congo import export data 2021, around 12000 metric tons of cobalt was produced during mining.  In the financial year 2020, Congo's cobalt exports were around 2.28 billion US Dollars. Congo cobalt exports by country records suggest that Australia, Indonesia, and Cuba were the major importers of Congo's cobalt.
