Russia's top exports during FY 2023

  Russia is among the top exporters in the world. Although, ever since the Russia-Ukraine conflict, Russian exports saw significant decline. Russian exports dip significantly due to the sanctions imposed by the USA, UN and European countries. Still, Russia managed to make a considerable amount of exports. According to Russia import export data , the exports of Russia were recorded to be $534 billion during the financial year 2023. Whereas in FY 2022, Russian exports were $876 billion. In 2023, over 2.6 million export shipments were recorded by Russia. Petroleum gases were the biggest exports of Russia contributing to 23% market share. During the financial year 2023, Russia’s knitted fabrics exports stood at around $598 million as per Russia import export data . Moldova was the leading destination for Russian knitted fabrics items representing around 47% market share.  Uzbekistan was the second leading destination for Russian knitted fabrics exports with 27% market share. According to Russia import export data , the overall chemicals exports of Russia stood at around $28 billion during fiscal year 2023.  Inorganic chemicals were among the most profitable exports of Russia. Ever since the invasion of Ukraine, Russia's metals exports declined to a significant level. Russia is currently facing sanctions from the US and many EU countries. After engaging in the war with Europe and rising sanctions from the west, Russian exports to Europe are highly impacted. This resulted in Russia's reliance on exports to Asian countries. Russia import export data shows 70% increase in exports to Asia along with 68% growth in Asian imports. Whereas, across the European market, Russia's exports saw a significant decline of 28% during fiscal year 2023. Russia export data suggest that exports to Europe were estimated to be $420 billion during last year. As compared to last year, there was a significant drop of $84 billion with 65%.
