Bangladesh vegetable exports drop by 60% during FY 2023

  Over the past three years, Bangladesh vegetable exports declined significantly. According to Bangladesh import export data , the country’s vegetable exports during  2021 were estimated to be around $271 million. Whereas, in 2022, it came down to $131 million while the latest reports, the exports were $68 million during 2023.  Bangladesh vegetable exports decreased by 60% as compared to previous year. This is due to the shortage of cargo space and lack of scanners at the country's airports. Also, during the covid pandemic, the vegetable supply has been affected. This resulted in the decline of vegetable exports from Bangladesh.  Bangladesh's key vegetable exports includes lemons, potato, root vegetables, cabbages, cauliflowers, Snake gourd, broccoli, and terragon products. Bangladesh exports in Q3 hit record $13 billion

  Bangladesh is a continuously progressing country. Bangladesh has done significantly well in the overall exports this year around. According to the historical Bangladesh import export data , around $55 billion worth of exports were recorded during FY 2022. Whereas, in 2021, the exports were around $45 billion. This year, Bangladesh set a target of $72 billion this year. Bangladesh has started on a positive note. As per Bangladesh customs data reports, the exports during July-September 2023 reached around $13 billion with an increase of over 9.3%. It was the highest increase noticed in any quarter of this year. This is the highest amount of exports recorded in 2023. Bangladesh food imports record high amid low production

According to the Bangladesh import export data reports, the imports of cereals and other valuable food items worth around 1.1 trillion Bangladeshi Taka during the fiscal year 2022.  Rice and Wheat are the most consumed products in Bangladesh.   Bangladesh mango exports had seen rapid growth during the financial year 2022. In the fiscal year 2022, Bangladesh mango exports doubled to around 4000 tons. According to last year Bangladesh customs data , the Bangladesh mango exports were 1757 tons with worth around 236 thousand dollars. Whereas, in 2020, it was mere 40 thousand dollars. Currently, Bangladesh exports its mangoes to over 15+ countries. Earlier, it was limited to 2-3 countries only. These include the United Arab Emirates, Switzerland, Italy, Bhutan, India, Britain, Kuwait, Netherlands, Singapore, etc. The top mango varieties exported from Bangladesh include Himsagar, Khirshapat, Amrapali and Langra. The top mango export companies from Bangladesh are Himsagar Mango, Mangoes, Adib Prottoy, Perfect Living, Hayatee Agro and Mehedi Masud.
