UK's beverages & spirits exports rose to $10.8 Bn in 2023

  The United Kingdom is the world’s 4th leading exporter of beverages and spirits. The United Kingdom is known for producing some of the finest alcoholic beverages and spirits in the world. During fiscal year 2023, UK’s beverages exports saw rapid growth. According to UK import export data , the country’s overall beverages exports stood at around $10.8 billion in the last year. These include wines, beers, mineral water, soda, vermouth, etc. Alcoholic spirits exports from the UK were record $8.5 billion in 2023. Export value wise, other major beverages exports from the UK were mineral waters ($705 million), grape wine ($621 million), beer ($574 million) and vermouth ($475 million). In 2023, the United States accounted for 17% of the UK's overall beverages exports. UK's soybeans imports hit record 895MMT during 2023

  The United Kingdom is the 17th biggest importer of soybean meal across the global market. According to the UK import export data reports, around $577 million worth of soybean meal were imported during fiscal year 2023. Over 895 MMT of soybean meal import shipments were made during last financial year. As compared to $717 million in the previous year, there was a sharp decline in the soybean imports by the United Kingdom.  The UK's majority of the soybean meal imports came from Argentina which is the leading soybean meal supplier in the world. The Netherlands was the second leading soybean meal exporter to the United Kingdom followed by Paraguay, United States and Brazil. UK to restrict its imports of Russian aluminium, copper & nickel

The United Kingdom has been a crucial importer of Russian copper, nickel, diamonds and aluminium over the last few years. But now due to pressure from the west over the Russia-Ukraine crisis, the UK is planning to impose a ban on Russian copper, aluminium, nickel and diamonds imports. UK import data shows that the country's copper imports were estimated to be $2.3 billion during fiscal year 2022. These mostly came from Ireland, South Africa, Mexico and Canada. Whereas, Refined copper imports were mostly from Belgium having over 90% share. Whereas, Russia has exported over 12 million dollars worth of copper to the United Kingdom.  In terms of aluminium imports, UK imports have declined by 39% in FY 2022. UK import export data shows that Russia has exported over 12,000 tonnes of aluminium to the UK worth over $35 million.
