Kenya, "A Million Dollar Flower Export Market"
Kenya's economy mostly depends upon its agricultural exports. Cut flowers are among the top agricultural produce. Kenya's flower export market is a very potential market. Kenya is among the top 5 flower exporters in the world. It ranks as the world's fourth largest flower exporter along with the Netherlands, Colombia and Ecuador. Floriculture is the major agricultural practice in Kenya. Due to advanced irrigation, ventilation systems, artificial lighting, refrigerated trucks and artificial lighting, Kenya’s flower exports rose over the years. Some of the most popular flower exports from Kenya are roses, lilies, delphinium, helianthus, limonium and decorative plants. As per the Kenya export data of 2022, Kenya cut flowers exports were around 1,95,000 tons. There was a dip in flower exports in 2022 as compared to 2,10,000 tons in 2021.
