Imports of Arecanut From Indonesia Grew in FY23

 Indonesia was the top areca nuts exporter in the world followed by Thailand, Sri Lanka, and Singapore. But over the years, there is a rise in imports of areca nuts by Indonesia. Around 220% year on year rise in imports of areca nuts by Indonesia.

Indonesia import data suggests that around 1.5 million dollars of areca nut imports in 2021 with over 0.53% share of total Indonesian imports. It was noted that areca nut exports from Pakistan have increased to Indonesia. Around 53% share of total areca nuts exports were reported from Pakistan to India. Other major import markets were Cambodia, Vietnam and Singapore.

As per the Indonesia import export data reports, Indonesia's areca nuts exports were estimated around 215 million dollars in the financial year 2021. The share of Areca nuts exports from Indonesia was around 62%. There was around 4.7% year on year increase in areca nuts exports.

The top markets for Indonesian exports were Thailand, Pakistan, Iran, Bangladesh, India, China, Singapore and Nepal. Thailand, Pakistan and Iran cover over 75% of total Indonesian areca nuts exports. 

According to the Indonesia customs data records, PT Ardim Export Djaya Nusantara, PT Agra Berkat Semesta, CV Kawan Delapan Sembilan, CV JMJ Global Winpex and PT Linrode Mekar Makmur are the top Indonesian fruits import export companies.

Durian Fruits

For the financial year 2021, Indonesian durian fruits exports were around 235 thousand dollars. According to the Indonesia export data records, the maximum shipments were made to Malaysia (36 MMT) followed by Singapore (5MMT) and Netherlands (3MMT) respectively. On an average Indonesian durian fruits exports are growing at the rate of 3.6% each year. Experts suggest that Indonesian durian fruit exports might grow in future and there will be an increase in its production.

Mangosteen

Indonesia's total mangosteen production volume was around 3.62 million metric tons. As per the import export data reports, Indonesian mangosteen exports were around 26 million dollars in the financial year 2021. Mangosteen covers over 1.8% share of total Indonesian exports. China and Hong Kong were two major import markets of Indonesian mangosteen with over 90% share of total exports. On the other hand, Indonesia did imports worth 2.4 million dollars in FY 2021. Indonesia's imports of Mangosteen were increased by 662% in FY 2021.

Rambutan

Rambutan was the third most exported tropical fruit from Indonesia in 2021. As per the Indonesia trade data reports, the rambutan exports from Indonesia were around 11 million dollars in 2021. China, Hong Kong and the United Arab Emirates were the top markets for Indonesian rambutan exports. On the other hand, the rambutan imports by Indonesia were 6 million dollars. There was around a 1% increase in imports of rambutan in FY21.

Snake Fruit

Indonesia is the largest producer of snake fruits in the world. In the financial year 2021, around 5.24 thousand metric tons of snake fruits were produced in Indonesia. China, Cambodia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and Saudi Arabia are the top markets for Indonesia's snake fruits exports.
