Mexico shipped record 166K units of trucks in FY22

 Mexico is the leading Truck exporter in the world. Mexico covers over 21% of the global trucks export market. While the import export data global reports reflect that the United States, Germany, Japan, France, Thailand and China were the major truck export markets globally.

 

In the financial year 2022, Mexico did record truck exports. According to Mexico customs data, around 166K units of trucks were shipped during the fiscal year 2022. Mexico's truck exports are seeing 18% year on year increase. As per Mexico import export data reports, the country's truck exports were around 31 billion US dollars. 


Mexico's truck manufacturers have increased their production due to global market demand. Currently, there are around 16 truck manufacturers. The top Truck manufacturing companies in Mexico are Frieghtliner, Anpact, Kenworth, Navistar, Hino, and International DINA. Frieghtliner was the leading truck exporting country from Mexico during the fiscal year 2022.


According to the Mexico trade data, Frieghtliner manufactured over 115K trucks and exported around 103K units with over 14% annual growth rate. During the fiscal year 2022, around 195K trucks were manufactured. While International Trucks Inc and Kenworth  exported over 56K and 7k Truck units during the financial year 2022.


As per Mexico export data, Mexico made a significant amount of truck exports to the United States (157K) with over 18% increase as compared to 2021. Second major export markets were Canada and Colombia. Canada truck imports from Mexico were 4000 units with 19% increase while Colombia imported 3000 units of trucks with 25% yearly increase. On the other hand, Mexico import data indicates that the imports of motor cars and motor vehicles were estimated around 11 billion US Dollars in 2022. 


Whereas in the first quarter of the fiscal year 2023, Mexico's vehicle exports increased by 8%. For the first three months, automobile exports shipments from Mexico were estimated around 922K units. Mexico’s automotive market will see record growth during 2023.

In 2022, Mexico's total trade accounted for over 1.18 trillion dollars. Out of which, Mexico's exports were estimated around 578 billion dollars and imports totaled to be 605 billion dollars.


As compared to the fiscal year 2021, there was 2% drop in Mexican exports and 19% decline in Mexican imports. Mexico's major markets for product exports were the United States, Canada, China, Germany and Taiwan. The United States covers over 76% of total Mexican exports.


While the top Mexican exports were vehicles, electrical machinery, mineral oils, optical instruments, plastics and furniture. On the other hand, as per Mexico shipment data, the top product imports by Mexico were petroleum oils, motor vehicles, parts, electronic integrated circuits, and computers. The top exporting countries to Mexico were the United States, China, South Korea, Germany and Japan.
