Vietnam's coconut exports to cross $1B this year

 Coconut is the major export commodity from Vietnam.  Vietnam is ranked 4th largest coconut exporter in the world. Vietnam's coconut exports have seen tremendous growth in the past few years. In the financial year 2022, Vietnam's coconut exports have seen good improvement.

According to the Vietnam customs data reports, around 1 billion worth coconut exports were recorded from Vietnam during the  fiscal year 2022. Whereas, last year, it was 900 million dollars. The major markets for Vietnam's fresh coconut exports were the United States, Canada, China, South Korea and Malaysia. China has emerged as the major market for Vietnam's coconut exports. Vietnam has expanded its fresh coconut exports to the United States, Japan, South Korea, Australia and European countries. Coconut oil was another important product export from Vietnam. According to the Vietnam import export data of last year, around 34 million dollars coconut oil was exported from Vietnam.

Vietnam export data suggests that the top destinations for its coconut oil exports were the United States, Canada, China, South Korea and Malaysia. China, Malaysia and the United States have emerged as the major markets for Vietnam's coconut oil exports.

In terms of coconut oil imports, Vietnam’s imports of coconut oil were estimated around 10 million dollars during the fiscal year 2021. Currently, Indonesia is the leading producer and exporter of coconut in the global market. Whereas other major exporters of coconut were Philippines, India, Sri Lanka, Brazil, Vietnam, Papua New Guinea, Myanmar, Mexico and Thailand.

China has become the major hub for Vietnam's fruits exports. According to the latest China import data reports, Vietnam has exported over 885,300 million metric tons of fruits exports during the first three months of the financial year 2023. China's total fruits imports from Vietnam were estimated around 1.2 billion dollars. These include mango, durian fruit, mango, bananas, mangosteen, dragon fruit, rambutan, and lychee.
