Philippines textiles industry got a major boost amid rising Australian imports

 

In recent years, Philippines and Australia bilateral ties have strengthened. Australia has shown its interest in the Philippines textiles sector. In the last two years, Philippines textiles exports to Australia have increased by a significant amount. According to the Philippines import export data reports, the country's garment exports to Australia were up by 20% in FY 2022.

The estimated worth for Philippines garment shipments to Australia was around $7.8 million. Another major significant export commodity was cotton. As per Philippines customs data reports, cotton exports from Philippines increase to $11 million during the financial year 2022.

In May 2023, Philippines exported around 79 thousand Australian dollars worth of goods to Australia which was 10% less as compared to 94 thousand Australian dollars exports in April month.
