USA, A bigger market for India's smartphones exports

 The United States is the leading smartphone importer in the world. According to the US import export data reports, the US was responsible for over $49 billion worth of smartphone exports during the financial year 2022. Along with the United States, Hong Kong, Japan and Germany are other significant smartphone importers in the world. 

The most favourable markets for United States smartphone imports are China, Vietnam, South Korea, Japan and Hong Kong. India has recently emerged as the most preferred market for smartphone imports by the United States. The latest US import data of 2023 shows that the smartphone imports from India hit a record $1.76 billion. The US import figures show 3x growth in smartphone shipments from India.

India export data reflects that the mobile phone exports to the USA were merely $262 million last year. But this year, the figures magnified by a huge margin. The USA accounts for over one third of India's total mobile phone exports. After the USA, the United Arab Emirates, Netherlands, Italy, Czech Republic and the United Kingdom were other major markets for India's smartphone exports.

On the other hand, the US smartphone imports from China declined to 3%. As per US customs data reports, over $40 billion worth of smartphones were imported by the USA in the last fiscal year. After China, Vietnam was the top smartphone exporter to the United States, showing a growth of over 200%. The total smartphone imports from Vietnam were estimated around $10 billion.

South Korea, Japan, Hong Kong, Mexico and Philippines were other major smartphone exporters to the USA with increasing year wise shipments. US bill of lading data for imports suggest that Apple mobile phones were the most imported mobile phones by USA accounting for over 52% share. Apple is then followed by Samsung 25%), Lenovo (8%), Google (3%) and others categories.

Blu products INC, Sky phone LLC, Truconnect Communications INC, S Weiss Telecom INC and Relay INC are among the top 5 US mobile phone import companies of the USA shipment wise. Whereas, the USA’s exports were estimated around $8.6 billion dollars during FY 2022. The United States stands fifth on the list of top mobile phones exporters in the world.
