Belgium the second leading European market for beer exports

 The latest Belgium export data reports shows that Belgium has become the second leading supplier of beer across the European market. It is only second after the Netherlands which is the top beer exporter globally. Also, it is the third biggest beer exporter in the world. Last year, Belgium accounted for over 16% share of Europe's overall beverages exports. Beer exports shipments from Belgium were estimated to be 1.5 billion litres during FY 2022.

In the financial year 2022, Belgium beer exports were recorded to be $2 billion. Belgium's beer exports were mostly to France, Netherlands, United States, Italy, Spain, China and the United Kingdom. Belgium import export data shows that France was responsible for over 35% market share in Belgium's overall beer exports while the Netherlands was responsible for 18% market share. 


Although compared to last year, Belgium beer exports declined by 5.5% this year. This is basically as the companies are setting their base across the globe. This resulted in a 30% decrease in the beer exports from Belgium.


The latest Belgium customs data reports shows that during July 2023, over 150 million euros worth of beer exports were made by Belgium. France, Italy, China, Netherlands and the United States were among the top Belgium beer importers. Lefebvre Brewery, AB InBev, SA Vervenne & Van Belle NV, Brouwerij Martens NV and Brautec AG accounted for the maximum number of beer export shipments from Belgium. 


On the other hand, Belgium imports were merely $184 million during the fiscal year 2022. Belgium imports mostly came from the Netherlands, Germany, France, Luxembourg, Ireland, Romania and the United Kingdom. Belgium import data reflects that Inbev Belgium, First Beer LLC, Import Mex Distributors, Anheuser Busch and SRL Best One Foods were responsible for the maximum amount of export volumes.


Belgium's overall beverages exports were estimated to be 4.8 billion euros during fiscal year 2022. Whereas, it was 4.4 billion euros during last year. Belgium's beverages exports were mostly to Spain, the United Kingdom, France, Sweden, Germany, Netherlands, Norway and Ireland. Inbev Belgium was the leading beverages exporter in the global market contributing to over 54% share of Belgium's overall beverages exports. malt beer, liqueurs, cordials, containers, soft drinks, and protein drinks  were among the top beverages exports from Belgium during last year. Trialto Latvia, Jens Warneke Export, Trialto Latvia, Alpro CVS and Brouwerji Martens were among other major beverage export companies from Belgium.
