Mexico allows Russia to bottle Mexican-produced Tequila

Mexican beer is quite popular across the Russian market. Russia has always been a prominent importer of beer from Russia. Russia is the third highest tequila importer in the world. Recently, the Mexican government has allowed licences for Mexican origin tequila brands in Russia for the first time ever. As, there was a law in Mexico that blue liquor produced in specific regions of Mexico to be branded tequila. Mexico's tequila has great demand in Russia and across the world. 

So far during FY 2022, Mexico was responsible for over 29% share in Russia's overall beer imports. Mexico export data shows that around $20 million worth of Mexican beer imports into Russia. Brewing Company Baltica, AB Inbev Efes JSC, Railtranslogistika LLC, Moscow Beer Non Alcoholic Factory and CJSC Moscow Brewing Company were other major Russian alcoholic brands export wise.


Apart from Russia, the United States is the leading liquor importer from Mexico along with Germany, Canada and the United Kingdom.  Mexico is the third leading hard liquor exporter in the world. Mexico customs data shows that around $4.2 billion worth of hard liquor was exported from Mexico. 


Russia and Mexico bilateral trade has prospered over the years. During the fiscal year 2022, the trade grew by 200%.
