Argentina's seafood exports up by 20% during October

Argentina is a prominent seafood importer and exporter. Argentina's major seafood exports include shrimps, frozen fish, squids, shellfish, etc. According to the Argentina import export data reports, there was 18% growth in year on year increase in Argentina’s seafood exports. Currently, the country's seafood exports hit record high. There was 20% growth in Argentina's seafood exports. 

Argentina export data shows over $6.5 billion worth of seafood exports for the financial year 2023. Over 138,547 MT of seafood exports shipments were made during the third quarter. Spain, South Korea and China were the top destinations for Argentina's seafood exports. 


Spain was responsible for over 71% share in Argentina's overall seafood exports. Whereas, China covered over 22% market share. Also, minor growth in exports to Uruguay, Portugal and the United States was seen during this year. Novopixe Sa contributes to over 46% share of Argentina's overall seafood exports. 


Argentina's shrimp exports alone are recorded to be around $3 billion during this year. Spain is the top shrimps importer from Argentina. According to the Argentina customs data, over $1.5 billion worth of shrimp exports were made by Argentina to Spain contributing to over 51% share. 


China has shown keen interest in Argentina's shrimps. It is seen from the fact that over 63 million worth shrimp imports were made by China from Argentina. Over $255 million worth of shrimp imports were made by China this year. There was around a 200% increase in shrimp imports by China.


Whereas, Italy, Japan, United States, Peru, and Thailand are other notable shrimp importers from Argentina. Estrella Patagonica Sa, Iberconsa De Argentina and Arbumasa are among the top shrimps exporting companies from Argentina with the highest number of shipments.


On the other hand, Argentina's frozen fish and seafood imports came from Chile, Spain and Ecuador. Also, Argentina import data reflects that the country's seafood imports mostly came from Indonesia which accounted for over 35% import share of Argentina. Whereas, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Kenya, Israel and the United States are the prominent fish suppliers to Argentina.
