Austria, the world's biggest market for wood carpentry exports

 Wooden furniture and other carpentry items are the 225th most traded items in the world. In terms of export percentage share, builder's joinery & carpentry of wood is the most exported category having over 51% share. Doors & frames are the second most exported category with 24% market share. Windows wooden frames (13%), Concrete constructional wood (2.61%) and wood shingles & shakes (1.8%) are the prominent wooden export categories in the global market.

Austria is alone the biggest market for these items. These products basically include wood, wood articles and other concrete constructional material made up of wood. According to the Austria import export data, the country has exported over $2.1 billion worth of wood carpentry items. Austria is facing stiff competition from China, Germany and Canada in terms of wood carpentry items exports across the worldwide market.       


Austria export data shows that Germany and Italy have made the maximum amount of wood carpentry import shipments from Austria. Germany and Italy together contributed to over 50% share in Austria’s overall wood carpentry exports.

Kaindl Flooring, Pfeifer Timber, Topalit Gmbh and Doka Gmbh are the top wood carpentry export companies from Austria.


According to the Austria import data reports, the country’s wooden products imports are estimated to be around $57 million during last fiscal year. Austria's  wood carpentry imports came mostly from Russia, Turkey, Ukraine, Kosovo, Vietnam and Indonesia. 


Oak Factory Gmbh was the top wood carpentry importer with over 6.8% share in Austria's wooden furniture imports. Pigmex Eko Ou, Mosser Leimholz Gmbh, JAF Global Gmbh and Mak Holz Gmbh are the other major import companies from Austria for wooden furniture.


Austria is also a prominent importer and exporter of construction materials. Austria is ranked 3rd and 4th on the list of top construction materials exporters and importers in the world. Austria customs data shows that the country's construction materials exports were around 314 million euros while imports were recorded to be 154 million euros during the financial year 2022.


Doka Gmbh is the most renowned construction material export company from Austria accounting for 34% of the country's overall construction materials exports. Gim Export Group Gmbh, Welsar Profile and S.A. Besix N.V are some of the key construction materials export companies from Austria. In terms of construction materials exports, Austria's major competitors are Switzerland and the Netherlands.
