India made record PC imports amid in October

 India is the world’s leading IT hub. So, there is huge demand for personal computers and accessories. These include computers, desktops, notebooks, laptops, and workstations. One main reason behind the increase in India’s PC imports is the ease in the import restrictions on laptops, tablets, and other computer devices.

The latest India import export data shows that India accounted for record personal computers imports during October month. During October 2023, India made over $554 million worth of PC imports. Whereas, India’s overall PC imports were estimated to be around $3.8 billion in FY 2023.


China was the top computer supplier to India with over 90% share. Other notable computer suppliers are Taiwan, Vietnam, Singapore, Malaysia, United States, Hong Kong, Japan and Indonesia. During this period, HP India, Dell International, Asus India, Apple India and Lenovo India were the leading PC import companies of India.


According to the India import data reports, India’s computer accessories imports reached $327 million during this year. China is also the top computer accessories supplier with over $123 million along with 50% share. India's computer accessories imports came from Vietnam, Germany, United States and Indonesia. The majority of shipments were made to Samsung, Foxconn, Foxlink, Apple India and Pegatron Technology.


India's personal computers exports are continuously progressing. This is shown from the fact that India made record personal computers exports in the last month. According to the India export data, the country's computer exports were around $145 million in October 2023. Whereas, India's overall personal computers exports are recorded to be $2.8 billion during FY 2022. 


During this period, India's PC exports were mostly to Russia, United Arab Emirates, Bhutan, United States, Mauritius, Hong Kong, Bangladesh, Israel and Netherlands. For the financial year 2023, Russia was the top destination for India’s computer exports. Russia was responsible for over 44% share in India’s overall PC exports. Whereas, UAE and Bhutan contributed to over 39% and 10% of India’s overall computer exports.


Bora Mobility and Unikorn Distribution were the top computer export companies from India during this year. India trade data shows that Bora Mobility accounted for around $79 million with 29% share in India's computer exports while Unikorn Distribution computer exports recorded to be $46 million along with 17% market share. Taj Computer Solutions, A.R. Enterprise and Bloom Electronics are other major computer exporters from India.
