UAE's cut flowers imports hit record $69 Million

 Last year, cut flowers were in great demand among the UAE’s market. UAE has made a considerable amount of cut flower imports in 2023. According to the UAE import export data reports, the country’s cut flowers imports hit a record $69 million during FY 2023. 35% of the UAE's overall cut flower imports came from Kenya. 

These basically include dried, dyed, bleached, impregnated or otherwise prepared cut flowers and buds for bouquets and ornamental purposes. Kenya has exported over $26 million worth of cut flowers to the United Arab Emirates. Whereas, the Netherlands was the second leading market for cut flowers imports contributing to over 30% market share in the UAE. The Netherlands is currently the world’s leading supplier of flowers across the world.


India was the third biggest cut flower importer having over 5.6% share. UAE import data shows that over $4.2 million worth of cut flowers were imported from India by the UAE. The fastest growing markets for UAE’s flower imports were Ethiopia, Colombia, Ecuador, Israel, South Africa, Thailand and China. Whereas, UAE live tree imports were estimated to be around $121 million during last year. The majority of the live tree imports of the UAE came from India, Pakistan, African and American countries.


Natural Flower Trading, Murugan Flowers Trading, Qtech General Trading and Bab Al Rolah Flowers were the top flower import companies from the UAE. In terms of flower exports, the UAE has exported around $640 worth of flowers globally. UAE export data shows that the country's 26% of the overall flower exports were made to Oman.


Saudi Arabia and Yemen were the second and third biggest flower suppliers having over 15% and 10% share in the UAE's flower imports. China, Algeria, Tunisia, Pakistan, Libya, Bahrain and Libya were other leading flower importing countries from the UAE. Whereas, the UAE has exported around $175 thousand worth of live trees during the last fiscal year. CPL Aromas, Regency Fashions DMCC, and SmartChem Hygiene were the top 3 flower export companies from the UAE during the financial year 2023.


Currently, the Netherlands, Ecuador and Kenya are the top flower suppliers in the world. Whereas, Germany and the United States were the top cut flower importers in the world followed by the United Kingdom, Netherlands, France, Russia and Japan. Globally, Almacenes Vaca, San Antonio, Viveres EL Triunfo from Mexico and Hosley International from the United States are the leading companies for flower exports in the world.
