US was the leading LNG exporter during 2023

 

The United States LNG exports prospered during the financial year 2023. The US has surpassed the top LNG gas exporters like Qatar and Australia during last year and became the world's leading LNG supplier. As per the US import export data, the country’s overall LNG exports were estimated to be around 92 MMT of LNG in 2023 with over 14% increase as compared to the previous year.

US export data shows that a record 8.6 MMT of LNG was exported during the December month. Europe was the main LNG importer from the USA with over 5.4 MT of LNG imports during December month. Also, the EU was responsible for 65% of the USA's LNG exports.  

After Europe, Asia was the second leading LNG importer from the USA with over 25% share in USA's LNG exports in December. Whereas, Latin American countries were responsible for 6% share. Some of the top LNG suppliers from the USA were Naturgy Aprovisionamientos and Engie Energy Marketing. 

The USA's natural gas exports during 2023 was recorded to be $34 billion. The USA's overall natural gas exports were mostly to South Korea and China. The fastest growing markets for the US natural gas exports were Brazil, Japan, Spain, India, Chile, Turkey, France, Netherlands and the United Kingdom. 

The USA was also the leading refined petroleum exporter in the world. The US bill of lading database shows that over $85 billion worth of refined petroleum during fiscal year 2023. The USA’s refined petroleum imports came from Mexico, Brazil, Canada, Peru and Chile.

The USA's crude oil exports were estimated to be around 6 million barrels per day. The USA's crude oil exports were mostly to Mexico which accounted for the 12% share of the USA's overall crude oil exports. Whereas, Canada, China, South Korea and the Netherlands were other major crude oil importers from the United States.

According to the US import data reports, around 26.4 billion cubic feet of liquified natural gas were imported by the USA during FY 2023. These imports mostly came from Mexico, Martinique, France, Barbados, Venezuela and Puerto Rico. Linde Gas & Equipment, Mondy Global, Honeywell International and Wesco HMB were the top LNG suppliers from the United States.

US crude oil imports were nearly $170 million in the fiscal year 2023. The US crude oil imports were 132 Mbbl per day in 2023. Canada, Yugoslavia and Iraq were the top crude oil suppliers to the USA in 2023. Crude oil imports from Canada were recorded the highest, around 4.3K Mbbl per day.

The United Kingdom, Congo, United Arab Emirates, Togo, Japan, Germany, Mexico and Ghana were other notable crude oil suppliers to the USA.  Valero marketing & supply, Monroe energy, Houston refining, Marathon petroleum supply and Suncor energy marketing were the leading crude oil export companies from the USA.
