India's shrimps exports soared to $240 Mn during March
Marine agriculture is a very important activity in the global market. A major portion of the country's population is engaged in this sector. India stands second on the list of top shrimps exporters globally. According to India import export data, India's shrimps exports hit a record $240 million during March 2024. The United States was the leading shrimp importer from India during March responsible for 39% market share.
China was the second leading shrimp importer with 17% market share. Whereas, Vietnam, Japan, Belgium, United Kingdom and Canada were other major shrimps importers from India responsible for hike in the shrimps imports from India. In February, India's shrimps exports hit a significant value of $248 million. Whereas, during January, the exports of shrimps were over $280 million. For the financial year 2023, Indian shrimps exports blossomed across the United States which was the top importer of shrimps from India responsible for 40% market share. India customs data shows around $1.4 billion worth of shrimp imports by the United States from India. Whereas, China and Japan were respectively the second and third biggest shrimps importers from India with 16% and 11% market share.
Noor Ice & Cold Storages, Kadalkanny Frozen Foods, Devi Fisheries and Apex Frozen Foods were the leading shrimp export companies from India responsible for the maximum number of shipments last year. India import data reports, India's shrimp exports were $59 million during the financial year 2023. 30% of India's shrimp imports came from the United States for the fiscal year 2023. There was a notable increase in the imports of shrimps from Argentina, Bahrain, the United Kingdom, Mexico and China.
