Pakistan's poultry market overview

Poultry and Agriculture are the most important items exported by Pakistan. Pakistan's major poultry exports include live animals, meat, fish, eggs, honey, vegetables, cereals and grains. According to Pakistan import export data, the country’s overall poultry exports hit a record $987 million during last financial year. Whereas, Pakistan’s agricultural exports were estimated to be $378 million dollars during 2023.

Pakistan’s live animals exports were totaled to be $1.5 million during last fiscal year. The top markets for Pakistan's live animals exports were mostly to Afghanistan, Kuwait, Oman, Jordan and Turkey. Azan International was the leading live animals export company from Pakistan in 2023. 


In terms of edible meat exports, Pakistan earned around $479 million during fiscal year 2023. Pakistan's biggest markets for edible meat exports were the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia with around 40% and 24% market share respectively. Among the fastest growing markets for Pakistan's edible meat exports were Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, Oman and Uzbekistan. Tazij Meats and The Organic Meat Company were responsible for maximum meat export shipments from Pakistan in 2023.


On the other hand, Pakistan's fish exports were estimated to be $462 million in 2023. China and Thailand were the leading markets for fish exports from Pakistan. China has imported over $218 million worth of fish from Pakistan whereas Thailand was responsible for $87 million worth of fish imports.


In 2023, Pakistan fish exports across Malaysia, South Korea, Indonesia and Japan showed rapid growth. Whereas, Pakistan's eggs, honey exports were over $45 million in the fiscal year 2023. Pakistan's exports were mostly to Saudi Arabia which had around $18 million worth of imports with 40% market share. Along with Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Afghanistan were other prominent edible animal products importers from Pakistan.


Also, there was notable growth in the exports to the United States, China, Turkey and Kuwait. FrieslandCampina Engro Pakistan and Nestle Pakistan were among the leading dairy export companies from Pakistan accounting for respectable exports. For other animal products, Pakistan has exported over $74 million in 2023. 

China was the leading importer of Pakistan's animal products with 32% market share. Along with China, Romania, Japan, Poland, Germany and Spain were the top importers of other animal products from Pakistan. When it comes to agricultural exports, Pakistan fruits exports were $279 million whereas vegetables exports were $199 million in 2023.


Pakistan export data reflects that mangoes were the most exported fruit item from Pakistan. Mangoes accounted for around 40% of Pakistan's overall fruits exports. Dates, figs, citrus fruits, bananas, mandarins, etc. 


The United Arab Emirates, Kazakhstan, United Kingdom and Afghanistan were the leading markets for Pakistan's fruits exports with 29%, 15%, 10% and 8.9% respectively. Onions, potatoes, cauliflowers, mushrooms were the top vegetables exports from Pakistan in 2023. Sri Lanka, Malaysia and the United Arab Emirates were some of the prominent markets for Pakistan's vegetable exports for the fiscal year 2023.  


Pakistan agricultural and poultry exports are expected to surge this year as well.
