Portugal's Footwear exports were $2 Billion
 Portugal is a major market for footwears. In 2023, Portugal witnessed record footwear exports. According to Portugal import export data, Portugal footwear exports stood at $2 billion during 2023. Germany and France stood as the biggest buyers of Portugal's footwear items with 22% and 20% market share respectively. 

There was a sharp rise in Portugal's footwear exports to the Netherlands, Spain, the United Kingdom and the United States. Ecco Let Portugal, Timberland Europe and Ara Shoes were some of the biggest footwear companies from Portugal with a notable amount of shipments last year. In terms of headgear items exports, Portugal recorded $105 million worth of exports during FY 2023. 


These include hats, head bands, helmets, etc. According to Portugal export data reports, the United States was the top headgear importer from Portugal with worth around $32 million along with France ($24 million), Spain ($5 million) and Germany ($3.8 million). The leading headgear export companies from Portugal were Shark Helmets, Feltros Portugueses and Nexx Pro.


Whereas, Portugal's biggest market for umbrellas, walking sticks, seat sticks was Spain which accounted for 70% market share. Portugal's overall exports of these articles stood at around $13 million during 2023. The fastest growing markets for Portugal exports were France, Angola, Belgium, Italy and Luxembourg.


Ezpeleta, Saipem, and Karl Lagerfeld International are the biggest Portugal export companies related to this field. On the other hand, Portugal import data reflects Portugal footwear imports were $1 billion in 2023. Around 30% of Portugal's footwear imports came from Spain which exported $340 million worth of footwear items. Germany, Belgium, Italy and China were other favourable destinations for Portugal footwear imports.


Rodiro, Ara Shoes, and Donaire were other prominent footwear supplying companies to Portugal during last year. In terms of leather exports, Portugal's leather exports were $138 million during last year. Spain, Italy, Morocco and France were the leading leather importing countries from Portugal with 24%, 15%, 11% and 8% market share.  Whereas, Portugal's leather imports were $357 million in 2023. Italy, Spain and France were the biggest leather suppliers to Portugal. Among the top Portugal trading companies for leather were Vagabond  International, Donaire, and Simone Acc. Collection. 


Also, there was a significant increase in the exports of woollen fabrics from Portugal. Portugal customs data shows a 14% rise in the exports of woollen fabrics last year. It was recorded to be $83 billion in 2023. Germany was the leading importer of woollen fabrics from Portugal with 20% market share followed by Romania (15%), and Spain (13%) respectively. Lusola Fabricacao, Faria Da Costa and Lusotufo were the top leather export companies from Portugal with a notable amount of shipments last year.
