Poland, "the world's leading exporter of frozen fruits & nuts"

 Poland is the world’s biggest exporter of frozen fruits and nuts. In 2023, Poland’s frozen fruits exports went up by 3.2%. According to Poland import export data reports, over $1.6 billion worth of frozen fruits exports were recorded last year. Poland’s top frozen fruits export items include  apples, bananas, citrus fruits, dates, figs, pineapples, apricots, cherries, grapes, plums, etc.

Germany was the leading frozen fruits importer with around $312 million worth during last fiscal year. Germany was the biggest market for Poland's edible fruits exports, having over 20% market share. Among the fastest growing markets for Poland's edible fruits exports were the Netherlands, Belarus, United Kingdom, Ukraine, France and Belgium.


Apples were the top frozen fruits exports from Poland accounting for the country's 30% exports. As per Poland export data, the country’s apple exports were recorded to be $480 million in 2023. Belarus was the leading apple importer from Poland with 9% market share followed by Romania (7.6%), Kazakhstan (7.3%), Egypt (6.6%) and Germany (6.3%). 


Whereas dried fruits and bananas exports were $64 million and $38 million during last fiscal year.  The leading markets for Poland's banana's Czech Republic, Hungary, Romania, Latvia and Lithuania. Similarly, other crucial fruits exports were citrus fruits ($34 million), dates figs, avocados ($28 million), grapes ($9 million) respectively.


Ukraine was the leading grapes supplier to Poland, having over 50% market share. Whereas, the Netherlands, Denmark, Germany, Czech Republic, Slovak Republic, and Belarus. Agri Polska, Treeden Group, and Josera Polaska are among the top grapes exporting companies from Poland with notable shipments in the past fiscal year.


Poland's key fresh fruits exports includes cranberries (60%), raspberries (15%), strawberries (12%) and gooseberries (2%). The top markets for Poland's berries exports were Germany (30%), United Kingdom (10%) and Belarus (8.2%). Movena, Wodari, Be Fresh Produce and Bakliand were the leading berries export companies from Poland.


On the other hand, Poland import data shows around $2.6 billion worth of frozen fruits imports were recorded during FY 2023. Poland's most favourable markets for edible fruits imports were Spain ($400 million) and Germany ($330 million). Also, there were notable amounts of fruit import shipments by Poland from Ecuador, Italy, Netherlands, Turkey, Colombia and Greece. 


Poland's most imported fruits items were citrus fruits, bananas, grapes, dates, figs, melons, papayas, coconuts, etc. Consorfrut Polska, Quadrum Foods, Sanfrukt, Klementynka and Elita are some of the leading fruits export companies responsible for a higher amount of shipments last year.



There was a humongous rise in the imports of berries by Poland. Poland customs data  suggest a 24% spike in berries imports of the country with an estimated value of $66 Million during last fiscal year. Majority of them were fresh blueberries and raspberries. Ukraine was alone responsible for 60% of Poland's overall berries imports. Whereas, the United States, Canada, Netherlands and Germany were among leading berries suppliers to Poland.
