Vietnam, “The Second Largest Footwear Export Market”

 

Vietnam is the second largest footwear export market after China. According to the Vietnam import export data reports, Vietnam's footwear exports accounted for over 24 billion dollars. There was a comparatively large increase in the footwear exports as compared to the last year. In 2021, footwear exports were around 20 billion dollars. It was around 13% more as compared to exports in 2021.

As per Vietnam customs data reports, the leather and footwear exports together accounted for 28 billion dollars. The United States, China, Germany, South Korea and Japan were the top countries by Bangladesh footwear exports.

On the other hand, Vietnam import data reflects that the country's footwear imports were merely 3 billion dollars. The major footwear exporters to Vietnam were China, the United States, Taiwan, Singapore and South Korea.

According to Vietnam export data records, Binh Tien Consumer Goods Manufacturing, 26 Joint Stock Company, Vinh Yen Shoes Joint Stock Company, Giovanni Group, and Ngocha Shoes Joint Stock Company were the top footwear export companies from Vietnam in 2022.

In the fiscal year 2022, the export revenue from North American and European Countries has increased 23% and 15% respectively. The Vietnamese government is targeting 27 billion dollar footwear and leather exports for FY 2023.

Top Footwear Exporting Countries

China

China is the leading exporter of footwear and world's second largest market for leather exports. In the financial year 2022, China's footwear and leather exports increased by 20%. As per China import export data, the country's leather sales were estimated around 32 billion dollars while imports were around 18 billion dollars in 2022.

According to China export data, China's footwear exports totaled around 57 billion dollars. There was around a 6.5% increase in footwear shipments from China. China shipment data suggests that around 9 billion pairs of footwear were exported from China in FY22. The United States, Japan, Germany, Vietnam and the United Kingdom were the top markets for China's footwear and leather exports.

Indonesia 

Indonesia is the world's third largest footwear export market. According to the Indonesia import export data, Footwear exports from Indonesia were around 6.8 billion dollars in FY2022.

Indonesia's footwear exports are growing at 8.6% annually. The top markets for Indonesian footwear exports were the United States, China, Germany, Japan and Belgium. The United States covers over 33% of the total Indonesian footwear exports.

Germany

Germany was the fourth largest footwear and leather exports market. Germany's footwear exports grew at the rate of 19% in the financial year 2022. According to the import export data reports, Germany's footwear exports were around 4 billion dollars in 2022. Poland and France were the top two footwear importing countries from Germany along with Switzerland, Netherlands and the United Kingdom.

Turkey

Turkey is the sixth largest footwear and leather exports market. According to the Turkey export data, Turkey's total footwear exports were around 1.5 billion dollars. The top footwear exports market for Turkey were Germany, Russia, Iraq, Spain and Romania.
