Kazakhstan aims to raise its Agri exports to EU

Kazakhstan's agricultural sector is continuously booming. Last year, Kazakhstan's agri exports saw tremendous growth. Kazakhstan is stepping up as the supplier of high quality organic products such as meat, beef, honey meat, and dairy products. European countries cover over 34% of Kazakhstan's total trade volume. 

The major importers of Kazakhstan agri products to Kazakhstan were According to the Kazakhstan customs data, the agri exports to European countries had reached 991 million dollars. These include cereals, flax seeds, wheat, canola, and rapeseed. Whereas, around 57K live animals were imported from European countries during 2022. The top European importers to Kazakhstan were Czech Republic, Poland, Slovakia, Netherlands, Denmark, Lithuania, Latvia, Germany and Austria.


As per Kazakhstan import export data reports, grains & flour covers over 71% of Kazakhstan's total agri exports. Kazakhstan's major agricultural exports are grains, flour, food preparations & other products.

The major destinations for Kazakhstan's wheat exports are Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Afghanistan. Whereas for 2023, it is expected that the wheat exports could cross 10 million tonnes by Kazakhstan with 7% increase as compared to the last year statistics.


On the other hand, Barley exports from Kazakhstan doubled in contrast to last year's volume. It reached 900k tonnes during the financial year 2022. The top markets for imports of barley were Iran, China and Uzbekistan. 


Other major agri exports from Kazakhstan were fishery products. Kazakhstan's seafood exports were estimated around 15 million during FY 2022. The top markets for Kazakhstan's Seafood exports were Russia, Germany, and Lithuania. In FY 22, Kazakhstan raised its fishery exports to European union countries to 8,700 tonnes. This was overall 1.5 times the last year's fish exports.
