Vietnam's fruits exports witness record growth this year: Experts
 Vietnam is the leading exporter of fruits and vegetables across the world. Vietnam is home to different varieties of fruits and vegetables. The most prominent fruits exports from Vietnam include durians, dragon fruits, mongosteen, bananas, mangoes, rambutan, longan, lychee, coconut, pomelo, etc. These fruits and vegetables have specific demand across China, USA, India and EU nations.

Vietnam’s fruits and vegetables are witnessing rapid growth this year. According to the Vietnam export data, the country’s current fruits and vegetables exports stands at $4.2 billion. Compared to the $3 billion exports way back in 2018, Vietnam has come a long way. It is expected to reach $5.5 billion by the end of this year. 


The imports were mostly from China, South Korea, Japan, United States and the Netherlands. Vietnam import export data shows that China was the leading market for Vietnam's fruits and vegetables exports with worth over $2.24 billion. 


There was a jump of 130% as compared to the previous year. Among Vietnam's key fruits and vegetables exports, durian fruits was the most exported fruits item from Vietnam with exports surged to over $1.25 billion during this year. There was a 600% increase in the exports of durians from Vietnam. Whereas, dragon fruit exports are reported to be $450 million this year.


China accounted for nearly 60% of Vietnam's overall fruits and vegetables exports with key imports such as dragon fruits, jackfruit, mango, longon, rambutan, black jelly, mangosteen, durian fruits, banana, etc.


The United States was the second leading buyer of Vietnamese fruits and vegetables. The US was responsible for over $998 billion fruits and vegetables imports from Vietnam during this financial year. USA’s key fruits imports from Vietnam include cashew nuts, bananas, melons, fresh durians, macadamia nuts, dragon fruits, and mangoes.


The demand for Vietnam's fruits and vegetables in the Netherlands saw an increase of 50%. The Netherlands key imports from Vietnam include tomatoes, onions, oranges, bananas, mandarins, etc. The overall fruits and vegetables imports made by the Netherlands were recorded to be $664 million during this year. 

Whereas, there was around 6% increase in Vietnam's fruits and vegetables exports to Japan. Vietnam exported over $156 million worth of these items to Japan. These include pineapple, avocado, durian, longon, passion fruits, etc. Another prominent market for Vietnam's fruits and vegetables exports was South Korea. 


As per Vietnam customs data, South Korea has imported over $106 million during this year with an overall increase of 3.2% as compared to the last year.  South Korea's key imports from Vietnam were mostly bananas and mangoes with an increase of over 300% as compared to financial year 2018.


Vietnam Dole Company, Real Farm Limited and Anh Duong Import Export were some of the leading fruits and vegetables export companies from Vietnam during this period. Whereas, Shenzen Fantai Fresh from China, Fresh Care from Australia, Bless Bean and Volcafe, Japan are some of the prominent buyers of fruits and vegetables from Vietnam.
