Pakistan's fruits and vegetables exports FY 2023 overview

2023 has been a positive year for Pakistan as far as the economy is concerned. Pakistan’s exports have been promising during last year. Pakistan’s fruits and vegetables have shown positive growth. As per Pakistan customs data, the overall fruits and vegetables from Pakistan were recorded to be $479 million in 2023. The United Arab Emirates has been the top contributor to Pakistan’s overall fruits and vegetables exports.

Pakistan has made a remarkable amount of fruit exports in 2023. According to the Pakistan import export data, over $279 million worth of fruits exports were made by Pakistan in 2023. Mangoes remained the top most exported product from Pakistan. During 2023, mangoes exports from Pakistan were record $112 million with over 40% market share. 


Wet dates were the second most exported item from Pakistan contributing to over 11% share of Pakistan's total fruits exports. Fresh Kino was the third most demanded fruit item from Pakistan with exports around $25 million in 2023. There was a significant rise in the exports of figs, bananas, mandarins (including tangerines and satsumas), citrus fruits, watermelons, and pine from Pakistan.


The United Arab Emirates was the most prominent market for Pakistan's fruits exports. Pakistan trade shows that the UAE accounted for 29% of Pakistan's overall fruits exports with an estimated value of $812 million in 2023. Kazakhstan and the United Kingdom were responsible for 15% and 10% of the country's fruits exports. 


The fastest growing markets for Pakistan's fruits exports were Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia, Germany, Russia, China and Philippines. National Fruit Processing Factory, Delight Enterprises and Shaheen Enterprises were the top 3 Pakistan export companies responsible for the maximum number of fruits export shipments.


As per Pakistan export data reports, around $200 million worth of vegetables were exported by Pakistan in fiscal year 2023. Potatoes and onions accounted for 60% of the overall Pakistan's vegetable exports. There was a sharp rise in the exports of green leafy vegetables, mushrooms, cabbage, lemons in the last fiscal year. 


Pakistan's vegetable exports saw a 27% spike in the last month. During this period over $43 million worth of vegetable exports were recorded. Sri Lanka, Malaysia, and United Arab Emirates were among the top 3 markets for Pakistan's vegetable exports contributing to over 67% share of total vegetable exports.


Whereas, Qatar, Oman, United Kingdom, Afghanistan, and Singapore were the fastest growing markets for Pakistan's vegetables exports.Junaid Mustafa Trading and Jumerah Enterprises were the leading vegetables exporting companies from Pakistan responsible for the highest  amount of shipments.


Whereas per Pakistan import data, the country's overall fruits and vegetables hit a record $3.8 billion during 2023. Iran, Afghanistan and the United States were the most favoured destinations by Pakistan for the imports of fruits and vegetables. Experts see a positive forecast for Pakistan’s fruits and vegetables exports this year.
